5/23よりギャラリーにてイギリス人画家 David Phillips による個展「Between Postcards」を開催いたします。

本展は、4年前に発表した「Postcards not sent」展作品と2026年の新作、そのあいだに流れた時間と思考をたどる試みです。

過去展をご覧いただいた方にはその連なりと変化を、今回初めての方には独立したひとつの世界として、それぞれの距離感でご体験いただけます。

展示されるのは、ポストカード“サイズ”の作品です。
しかし、それはポストカードではありません。

宛先を持たず、送られることもなく、ただ残されたもの。
言葉にならなかった思考や、行き場を持たない感覚の断片が、この小さな画面に静かにとどまっています。

同時にそれらは、すべて一点ごとのオリジナルであり、完結した絵画でもあります。
手のひらに収まる親密なスケールの中に、作家の時間と密度が凝縮された、“持つことのできる作品”です。

空間を選ばず、日常の中に自然と入り込むサイズだからこそ、
飾る、置く、ふと目に入る——その繰り返しのなかで、作品はゆっくりと生活に浸透していきます。

大きな作品とは異なる距離で、より個人的にアートと関わること。
その静かな豊かさも、あわせて感じていただけましたら幸いです。

From 23–31 May, we are pleased to present Between Postcards, a solo exhibition by British painter David Phillips.

This exhibition traces the time and thought that lie between Postcards not sent, first shown four years ago, and a new body of work created in 2026.

For those familiar with the earlier series, it offers a quiet continuation; for first-time visitors, it unfolds as a self-contained world, open to personal interpretation.

The works are of postcard scale.
They are not, however, postcards.

They are not intended to be sent, nor to carry a message from one person to another. Rather, they hold what remains unsent

—fragments of thought, moments that resist language, and impressions without a fixed destination.

Each piece exists as a complete, original work in its own right.
Within this intimate scale, time and attention are carefully condensed, forming paintings that can be lived with as much as they can be viewed.

Their modest size allows them to enter daily life with ease—placed on a shelf, set upon a desk, or quietly held within one’s field of vision.

Through such gentle encounters, the works begin to settle into the rhythms of everyday living.

To live with art at a more personal distance, and to discover its quiet resonance over time—
we hope this exhibition offers such an experience.
